Quinta da Poupa is a Bed & Breakfast and Permaculture farm in Portugal, and they have asked me to build a website to initiate their online presence. The actual website is still under construction, and it is planned to be online in December 2020. Until then they want to have a ‘coming soon’ page, because their network has already been asking for some impressions of the farm, their website and a way to contact them for bookings.
For this ‘coming soon’ page I’ve used a WP theme to cut the costs of development, especially because it is only a temporary version. To make it more personal to their taste, I have altered the style and functionality by using PHP, HTML and CSS. For instance, I’ve removed some built-in theme PHP functionalities that we didn’t need, and have coded in a hero image layover which was not part of the theme. I’ve integrated a Google Maps functionality, and also integrated an Instagram feed. The site is developed responsive and therefore will look great on all kinds of mobile devices.
I’ve also created their logo around the hoopoe bird, which is a species that returns every year to their farm to nest and reproduce, and has given its name to this family business.
